It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

If we build ourselves up, we are arrogant, but if we put ourselves down, we lack self-confidence. If we speak our minds, we are assholes, but if we hold our tongues, we are weak. If we shower our children with attention, we are spoiling them, but if we do something for ourselves, we are neglectful. Our clothes are too tight or too baggy. Our bodies are too fat or too thin. We are too lazy or overachievers. We push ourselves too hard, but then again, not hard enough. You get the point; there are some amazingly harsh critics in this world.

If you want to run a marathon, believe you can do it. If you want to climb a mountain, I say, "go for it." If you want to lose weight, you have that capability. If you have an addiction, believe you can overcome it. If you want to see the world, live your dream. If you want to go to college, believe you can graduate. If you want to change for the better, believe you are on your way. If you are accomplishing any positive goals, be proud of what you’re doing.
